Malaysia is not concerned about Singapore's efforts to secure a F1 grand prix, a Malaysian government official said yesterday.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Liow Tiong Lai told The Star that their main concern was ensuring a successful Malaysian Grand Prix from April 6-8 at the Sepang circuit.

Liow was reacting to media reports in neighbouring Singapore that sports minister Azalina Othman was alarmed at the possible impact an F1 race in the city state would have on Malaysia.

Singapore is in talks with F1 over the hosting of a street circuit race, which may be held at night under floodlights, a first for the sport.
