A 23-year-old man was yesterday charged with importing heroin and with the possession of the drug in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use.

Clifford Bonnici, of Birkirkara, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him and was granted bail against a Lm500 deposit and a Lm1,000 personal guarantee.

Police Inspector Pierre Grech prosecuted.

Lawyer Franco Debono was defence counsel.
