Obituary

AGIUS-GILIBERT. On March 25, in Germany, WILFRED, aged 77, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his great loss his wife Irmgard, née Heydi, his son Clive and his grandson Jonas. He will also be greatly missed by his sisters Gladys, Lina and her husband Charles Thake, Lilian and her husband Joe Zarb Cousin and Marionne, widow of Joe Aquilina. Also his nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends in Malta and Germany.
Funeral arrangements and requiem Mass in Malta to be announced later.

SCIBERRAS. On March 25, at St Luke's Hospital, ANTHONY of Birkirkara, aged 64, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Dunstan and Elaine, Cedric and Diane, Gareth and Daniela, Bernard and Joanne, her grandson Jake, relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for San Gwann parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.

VENTURA. On March 26, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, MARIA, née O'Brien, of Mosta, aged 90, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss Frank and his wife Miriam, Kathleen and her husband John Borg, Monica, widow of Charles Fenech, Charles and his wife Wilma, Marianne and John, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital tomorrow at 7.45 a.m. for Mosta parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Mosta cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated. May God grant her eternal rest.

ZAMMIT. On March 24, at Gozo General Hospital, VINCENZA of Victoria, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joseph, her children Emanuel and his wife Jane of Australia, Paul and his wife Celestina, Victor and his wife Frances, Miriam and her husband Teddy, George, and Michael and his wife Marthese, her grandchildren, sisters and brother, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Francis Square, Victoria, today at 5.30 p.m. for St George's Basilica, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 6 p.m. No flowers by request but donations to Arka Respite Centre, Ghajnsielem, Gozo, will be appreciated.

BORG - CARMELA, widow of Gangu of Victoria, Gozo. Unfading memories of a beloved mother and grandmother on the 20th anniversary of her demise. Craft Courses

A course aimed at teaching the basics of ceramic sculpture and silver filigree work as well as a course on gilding will be held at the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, Palazzo De La Salle, 219 Republic Street, Valletta starting in April. Both courses will be held in the evenings and will run over 10 lessons of two hours each lesson. The fee for each course is Lm9.

Social Work Day

The International Federation of Social Workers is marking March 27 as Global Social Work Day to raise the awareness of the importance of social workers all over the world.

It is also inviting all affiliate members to celebrate the importance and the development of social work globally through local, regional and national activities highlighting social work. This year the Global Social Work Day will highlight the Jubilee theme Social Work: Making A World Of Difference.

New-Look Outlet

The United Colors of Benetton (UCB) store at The Embassy in Valletta recently reopened its doors with a refreshed look completely dedicated to womens' wear.

The collection offers linens, suits, denims and a bright palette of colours including bright coral, turquoise and yellow amongst others.

Holy Week Activities

Good Friday Display
An exhibition related to Good Friday will be held at 52A, Lapsi Street, St Julians between Sunday and Good Friday. The display, entitled Crux Triumphans, will include a set of statues related to the passion of Christ, a cenacle as well as a church model. It will be open on Palm Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon and between 5 and 9 p.m., from Monday to April 4 between 5 and 8.30 p.m., on Maundy Thursday from 5 to 11.30 p.m. and on Good Friday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Zabbar Pageant
A play entitled Minhabba Fi Dnubietna, depicting the last few hours of Christ, will be held at the Notre Dame Theatre in Zabbar. The pageant will be presented on Saturday at 7.30 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets cost Lm1.50 each. Rabat Exhibition
A Holy Week exhibition will be put on by the Ladies' Circle of the Count Roger Band Club of Rabat at the hall of the club between Sunday and April 6. There will be a Last Supper display according to the Jewish rites, a life-size statue of Christ, statuettes placed in an original and rustic style, vestments of the Easter precession, two informative boards about the Holy Lady and items used in the Jewish domestic life. The display will be open on Palm Sunday between 9.30 a.m. and noon and from 4 to 8 p.m., on April 2 to 4 between 9 a.m. and noon and from 4 to 8 p.m., on Maundy Thursday between 9 a.m. and noon and from 4 p.m. to midnight and on Good Friday between 8 a.m. and noon and from 3 to 10 p.m. Entrance is free.

Trial of Christ
The Grupp Centru 19 ta' Novembru 1944 will present Il-Kundanna tal-Qassisin, a 30-minute play showing Christ's trial with a difference. The play will be staged at the Oratory next to the Cospicua Collegiate Church on Maundy Thursday, April 5, at 8 p.m. and on Good Friday, April 6, at 8.30 p.m. The audience will have the opportunity to take part in the trial. Written and directed by Charles Scerri, the play delves into the plot by the highest authorities and into the reason why Judas betrayed Jesus Christ.

Last Supper Replica
The Societa Filarmonica La Vittoria of Mellieha will put up a replica of Our Lord's Last Supper according to the Jewish Rite at the La Vittoria Band Club near the Mellieha parish church between Thursday and Good Friday, April 6. A miniature model of the City of Jerusalem by Fr Pawlin Cremona will also form part of the exhibition. The opening hours will be from 5.30 to 8.30 p.m. on weekdays; from 9 a.m. to noon and 5 to 8.30 p.m. on Palm Sunday; from 5 to 11 p.m. on Maundy Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Good Friday.

Good Friday Statues
Statues representing what took place on Good Friday are currently on display at the Mellieha parish centre hall until April 7. A set of old Good Friday statues from Naxxar as well as 160 plates and frames made from rice and semolina will also be on display until April 4, open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., on Maundy Thursday all day until 11 p.m. and on Good Friday and Easter Sunday until 1 p.m.
