Triq is-Sidra is one of the Swieqi roads that have been changed into "one way" by the authorities. For a period of time, wardens were stationed a the end of this road, facing Villa Kavallieri, in order to assist (not book) drivers not "noticing" the two No Entry signs.

A few weeks have passed since the implementation of the new system but quite a few irresponsible individuals are refusing to accept the law and keep insisting on entering Triq is-Sidra from Triq il-Qasam, which is, of course, driving wrong way!

Whether one agrees or disagrees with this new arrangement is irrelevant: the law must be obeyed.

I suggest that wardens are stationed half way down this road so that those who insist on blatantly breaking the law are handed an infringement notice before someone gets injured or killed in a head-on collision.

I also ask the authorities to paint a left arrow for cars turning left into Triq il-Qasam and a right arrow for drivers turning right into Triq il-Qasam.

Another suggestion is to increase the fine of driving against a No Entry sign to Lm50.

While on the subject of irresponsible driving or ignorance of road signage, I ask: Is it possible to station a warden or policeman at the roundabout coming out of Swieqi tunnel?

The drivers coming down from St Andrew's Road face a Give Way sign but they are ignorant of the fact that when facing such a sign they must give way to traffic on their left coming out of the Swieqi tunnel. Unless I am mistaken, when there is a Give Way sign at a roundabout, this sign takes precedence over the roundabout rules.

Clarification on this matter from the ADT or the local council would be appreciated.
