The University Chaplaincy invites all University staff and other professionals to this year's Lenten reflections. This year Fr Timothy Radcliffe, OP, will be guiding the three Lenten reflections on the theme "Is the Gospel Good News or is it boring?" on April 2, 3, 4 at 7.30 p.m. at the St Thomas More University chapel.

In these reflections Fr Radcliffe will explore how we can share the Good News of the Gospel with our contemporaries. In the first, he will look at how we may be in contact with the young. Then in the second, what is the nature of Christian freedom? Finally, he will look at how the "Our Father'" offers us a vision of the Christian search for a just world."

Timothy Radcliffe, OP, was born in London in 1945 and educated by the Benedictines at Worth and Downside schools. He joined the English Province of the Dominican order in 1965, and was ordained in 1971.

Among his various missions, he was one of the chaplains at the University of London, taught Scripture and Doctrine for 12 years at Oxford and was involved in the Peace Movement and in ministry to people with AIDS.

He held various roles in the order: Prior of Oxford, Provincial of the English Province and then Master General (1992-2001). He was also president of the Conference of Major Religious Superiors. He is now an itinerant preacher and lecturer, based at Blackfriars, Oxford, spending half of the year travelling and on the board of the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development. He is the author of Sing a New Song, I Call You Friends, Seven Last Words and What is the Point of Being a Christian?

This year, child-minding services will be provided again during the reflections. The Chaplaincy Holy Week celebrations will be held on Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m., Good Friday at 3 p.m., and Easter Vigil at 8 p.m. For further information call the Chaplaincy on 2340-2341 or e-mail: chaplaincy@um.edu.mt.
