Birkirkara

Charlie and Mario Grech are exhibiting Good Friday statues at 130, St Rocco Street (near St Helen basilica) between Friday and Holy Saturday from 5.30 to 8.30 p.m., Maundy Thursday from 5.30 to 9 p.m., and Good Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cospicua

The Domus Piu IX are hosting a Last Supper Table and Golgotha for the 53rd year. The latter is a display of clay figures depicting the Passion of Christ, Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, Judas' betrayal, Christ before the high priests and Peter's denial.

The theme is the Passion and death of Christ according to the Gospel of St John. Models of the Antonia Tower and Jerusalem market according to plans of the time will also be on display. A large image measuring seven by four feet made from 50 kg of salt, and a new display, which should not be missed, will also be on show. Opening hours are Friday to April 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 9.30 p.m., April 4 to 7 from 8 a.m. to noon and Easter Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon.

A display of Good Friday statues opens at the St George's Band Club on Wednesday. The St George's band is playing Good Friday marches - mainly compositions by members of the band - at the club on April 4 at 7.30 p.m. A CD of funeral marches will be on sale during the concert.

Dingli

Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi, accompanied by mayor Ian Borg, is inaugurating a Last Supper Table, with Good Friday statues at Dun Bosco Home chapel. Fr Norman Zammit will bless the exhibition. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 6 to 10 p.m., Maundy Thursday from 4 to 11 p.m., Good Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Holy Saturday from 8.30 a.m. to noon.

Fgura

The Carmelite Altar Boys of Fgura are holding an exhibition at the Carmelite convent. The exhibition will include a Last Supper display, various sets of statues, a life-size statue of Jesus by Aaron Camilleri Cauchi that will be placed at the head of the Last Supper table, a set of sacred vestments and traditional plates with semolina representing various images and symbols of the passion.

Opening hours are Wednesday, Thursday, April 3 and 4 from 7 to 8.30 p.m., Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 7.30 to 10.30 a.m. and 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday from 7.30 a.m. to noon and 6 to 8 p.m., April 2 from 7 to 8.30 p.m., April 5 from 7.30 p.m. to midnight, and April 6 from 7.30 a.m. to noon and 4 to 5 p.m.

The Kummissjoni Zghazagh Banda 'Madonna tal-Karmnu' is holding an exhibition of Good Friday statues and life-size scenes at the band club in Hompesch Road between Tuesday and Good Friday. Opening hours are weekdays from 5.30 to 9 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays and feast days from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5.30 to 10 p.m., Maundy Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 5.30 to 11 p.m. and Good Friday from 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Simon Mercieca is displaying a model of a church with figures at Garage 339, Triq Merhba, on Friday and April 2 to 4 from 7.30 to 10.15 p.m., April 5 from 6 to 8.30 p.m., and April 6 from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Ghaxaq

An exhibition of Good Friday statues is being held at the chapel dedicated to St Philip Neri in St Philip Street. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 5.30 to 9 p.m., Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 3.30 to 9.30 p.m., Maundy Thursday from 5 to 11 p.m., and Good Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The exhibition opens today with a music and literature programme in St Philip Square at 7.30 p.m., with the participation of the Banda Ghaxqija formed by bandsmen from both Ghaxaq bands. In case of bad weather, the programme will be held in the hall of Filippu Castagna Primary school.

Gudja

Jean Pierre and Alan Mifsud are organising an exhibition, Hsiltilkom Saqajkom, with statues by Aaron Camilleri Cauchi, at Bir Miftuh chapel. Opening hours are Saturday at 6 p.m., where Fr Martin Cardona will bless the exhibition at 7.30, Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon and 3 to 10 p.m., April 2 and 3 from 5.30 to 9 p.m., April 4 from 9 a.m. to noon and 5.30 to 9.30 p.m., Maundy Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon and 5.30 p.m. till midnight, and Good Friday all day till 10 p.m.

Kalkara

The Socjetà Circolo San Giuseppe Filarmonika Sagra Familja is displaying a Last Supper Table and statuettes depicting Christ's Passion at the society's headquarters in Rinella Street. Opening hours are Saturday from 6 to 8.30 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon and 6 to 8.30 p.m., April 2 to 4 from 6 to 8.30 p.m., April 5 from 6 to 11 p.m., and April 6 from 8.30 a.m. to noon. Lija

The parish of Lija is displaying a replica of the Last Supper Table according to Jewish custom at the old parish church of Our Saviour. Visitors may enter every 15 minutes and there will be a commentary in both English and Maltese. The opening of on April 4 at 7.30 p.m. Opening hours are April 5 from 7 to 10 p.m. and April 6 from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Marsascala

The parish centre is holding an exhibition, Sacred Art Associated with Holy Week, between April 4 and 8. Opening hours are Wednesday to Friday from 5.30 to 8.30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 5.30 to 8.30 p.m.

Mellieha

A Last Supper Table, Good Friday statues and 160 decorative plates of rice and semolina are being exhibited at the parish centre from Tuesday to April 4 between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., Maundy Thursday all day till 11 p.m., and Good Friday and Easter Vigil till 1 p.m.

Mosta

Carmelo Camemzuli is exhibiting 11 clay and papier maché Good Friday statues, including a church model, at Mary Immaculate Oratory, 58, Tower Road, from today till Easter Sunday (April 8).

Opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 5.30 to 9 p.m., Sundays and public holidays from 9.30 a.m. to noon and 4 to 9 p.m., Maundy Thursday from 5.30 to 11 p.m., and Good Friday from 9.30 a.m. to noon and 4 to 10.30 p.m.

Paola

The G.M. Fra Antoine de Paule is holding its annual music-literary evening, with the participation of Banda Kristu Re, under the direction of Mro David Sammut, at the main hall of the band club in Paola Square, on April 3 at 7.30 p.m.

Also taking part are soprano Marvic Monreal, accompanied by Arlene Galea on the piano and David Sammut on the mandolin and violin. Alfred Massa will read one of his poems and works by other Maltese poets.

Valletta

A Last Supper display prepared by members of the confraternity of St Dominic's Convent is being inaugurated by Archbishop Paul Cremona at the oratory of the Archconfraternity of the Blessed Sacrament at St Dominic's Convent in St Dominic Street on April 3 at 6.45 p.m. and will remain open till 10 p.m. The display will also be open for viewing that day between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Opening hours are April 4 and Maundy Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 10 p.m. and Good Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Zebbug

The 12th May Band is putting a Last Supper table on show at the band club in St Philip Square, Sciortino Street, which will be officially open on Thursday after a programme of sacred music is carried out by the band, under the direction of Herman Farrugia Frantz. The exhibition remains open till Good Friday (April 6). During Holy Week, a CD of funeral marches played by the band will be on sale at the exhibition. The band is accompanying the Risen Christ procession that leaves St Philip parish church on April 8 at 9 a.m. with various Easter waltzes and joyous marches.

Victoria, Gozo

The Leone band club of Victoria has just launched a collection of 15 pieces varying from band marches to elegies, Dolore, composed by Giovanni Giumarra for this year's Holy Week.
