The MLP keeps repeating that there are thousands of citizens who, if not below the poverty line, are struggling to live. The MLP gives the impression that most of the Maltese are almost dying of starvation and that the government is totally incompetent.

The MLP keeps repeating that there are thousands of citizens who, if not below the poverty line, are struggling to live. The MLP gives the impression that most of the Maltese are almost dying of starvation and that the government is totally incompetent. It keeps mentioning the negative effect of the surcharge that was introduced when the price of oil rose to unprecedented heights.

Now that the government is to introduce a new measure from which 30,000 families will benefit to alleviate earlier difficulties because of the surcharge, one would expect the MLP to congratulate the government on this new benefit.

What's more, the beneficiaries do not have to apply as they will automatically receive a voucher with a number matching the bill details. Originally there were 13,000 families who were not being asked to pay the surcharge.

This important detail has been conveniently ignored by the opposition.

No one expects the MLP to celebrate this new measure with photo opportunities alongside the power station, but the government should ensure that such important details are known to one and all.

It must be repeated a million times to convince citizens that the PN is the best party to govern this island of ours. One will do well to remember the MLP's "antisocial soul" when the price of oil was a measly $12 per barrel.
