For its spring 2007s Primaries trend collection, Joico did not seek inspiration from the worlds of fashion or celebrity, but looked to nature's infinite bounty of pure, raw elements.

"Primaries is about looking beyond the manufactured trends our modern high-tech world produces, and looking for pure, raw inspiration in the only place that it still exists: nature," says Damien Carney, international artistic director.

In nature, an endless number of natural elements were discovered - from every imaginable shape and texture to the most unexpected colour combinations that had never been translated to hair.

Colours were inspired by the contrasting yet complimentary qualities of light (warm or cool, bright or soft) that exist in all things natural. Everything from volcanic ash, pebbles on the beach, desert sand, earth, and even rhubarb custard and créme brZlée with raspberries served to inspire.

On the other hand, the cuts explore the angles, lines, exterior and interior of both basic and intricate geometric shapes. They are reminiscent of the geometric styles popular during the 1920s or 1980s, but taken to a whole new level of complexity and originality.

Maxine Pace's style in fact includes concaves and convexes on the upper and lower parts of the head and straight lines on the sides. Mario Muscat of Moi et Tu has kept the colour earthy and natural using different shades of brown.
