Bernd Schuster's Getafe have been handed a tie against league leaders Barcelona in their first ever appearance in the semi-finals of the King's Cup.

The modest Madrid-based side were paired against the 24-times Cup winners in yesterday's draw, while second-placed Sevilla have been pitted against Deportivo La Coruna.

"It's a very difficult tie, especially as Barcelona are now out of the Champions League and they will be more focused on the Cup," Getafe chief Angel Torres said.

Getafe beat Valencia and Osasuna on their way to the semis. Barca, who notched up their 24th Cup title in 1998, overcame last year's losing finalists Real Zaragoza in the quarters.

Sevilla face a Deportivo side who are coached by their former boss Joaquin Caparros, but have the advantage of playing the second leg at their Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.

The first leg matches are on Wednesday April 18, with the returns on May 9. The final is not until June 23.
