Labour MP Joseph Cuschieri yesterday warned an army officer not to intimidate or treat Labourite soldiers unfairly, as the Labour Party would otherwise have no option but to take the appropriate action in due time.
Speaking in Parliament, Mr Cuschieri said he had received reports from soldiers of different ranks that the officer, Captain Micallef, appeared to be taking it upon himself to discipline soldiers having Labour tendencies unfairly and without justification. He was also intimidating them.
Mr Cuschieri said he was seriously warning this officer to be careful. If he persisted in his actions, the Labour Party would have no option, but to take the necessary action.
Soldiers having Labour tendencies should not be treated as second-class citizens, Mr Cuschieri insisted.
