An Australian national of Chinese origin was jailed for six months after he pleaded guilty to human trafficking last year.

Lin Xin, 35, admitted to his involvement in trafficking in people on and before November 19, 2006.

On handing down judgement, Magistrate Lawrence Quintano noted that the defence and the prosecution had agreed on a six-month jail term if Mr Lin filed a guilty plea.

The magistrate ruled he agreed with the jail term noting that Mr Lin had cooperated with the police. He ordered that the time Mr Lin spent in preventive custody be deducted from his jail term.

Police Inspector Mario Haber prosecuted.
