Insurance fraud charge

Two young men have been charged with involvement in setting a car on fire to try to defraud an insurance company, a year ago. Christopher Carabott, 27, of Marsaxlokk and Mario Caruana, 25, of Zejtun pleaded not guilty to insurance fraud on March 24, 2006.

Two young men have been charged with involvement in setting a car on fire to try to defraud an insurance company, a year ago.

Christopher Carabott, 27, of Marsaxlokk and Mario Caruana, 25, of Zejtun pleaded not guilty to insurance fraud on March 24, 2006. Mr Carabott was charged with filing a false police report claiming a Peugeot 106 had been torched and Mr Caruana was charged with simulating evidence of the fire.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli presided over the case.

Lawyers Michael Sciriha and Franco Debono were defence counsel.
