The Malta Karate Federation (MKF) has just organised its eighth National Kata Championships at the St Aloysius College Sports Complex. The event attracted 170 martial artists from the seven clubs affiliated to the federation, namely the ones at Birkirkara, Fgura, Mgarr, Mtarfa, Naxxar, Paola and Pembroke.

In a statement, federation president Kenneth Abela said he was very pleased with the overall organisation of the championships as well as the level of karate exhibited in the 20 different categories.

The Refereeing Commission was under the charge of Sensei Anthony Zammit, the MKF's technical director. Zammit is also a world referee, qualified under the World Karate Federation.
