An Airbus A320 sits on the tarmac at Toulouse, France, prior to its delivery to Air Malta last week. The aircraft was the eleventh of an order of 12 Airbus aircraft ordered by Air Malta in 2002. The last will be delivered next Wednesday. As a result the Air Malta fleet will consist of seven A320s and five slightly smaller A319s. Two Boeing 737s currently operated by the airline will be retained for this summer. The Air Malta fleet is now one of the youngest in the world, with the aircraft having an average age of 2.7 years. That means considerable savings in fuel consumption and maintenance costs as well as added comfort for passengers.
