A Maltese company had a leading role in a concert that saw world famous Italian conductor Riccardo Muti return to the Sicilian theatre where he had made his artistic debut almost 40 years ago in 1968.
The concert by Renaissance Productions Ltd (RPL) was held at the Teatro Massimo Bellini, in Catania. Mro Muti conducted the 70-member Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini in a programme that included an overture from Die Zauberharfe by Schubert, Symphony no. 4 Tragica also by Schubert, and Beethoven's Symphony no. 7. Following the concert, distinguished guests were entertained to a reception at the Palazzo Biscari in honour of Mro Muti.
Apart from the Joseph Calleja concert in July and a series of events being organised in Malta in 2007, RPL will shortly be announcing details of other productions being planned overseas this summer.
