It hasn't always been like this
You listen to what Lawrence Gonzi has to say... and you think that you are already in heaven. You listen to what Alfred Sant has to say... and you think you are already in the deepest, hottest place in hell. You listen to what Harry Vassallo has to say...
You listen to what Lawrence Gonzi has to say... and you think that you are already in heaven.
You listen to what Alfred Sant has to say... and you think you are already in the deepest, hottest place in hell.
You listen to what Harry Vassallo has to say... and you remember that limbo no longer exists!
Forget them all and have a good look around you. Start by having a look around yourself, your family, your relatives, your friends, your neighbours. You can come to only one conclusion: We have never ever had it so good. Never!
If a circle is already nearly perfectly round, do not try to improve it because you end up with a square. In football circles it is an accepted strategy never to change a winning formation. The present administration is delivering beautifully...
What else can you expect? You already live in a luxurious, fully-furnished apartment. You have everything you need and more than you need. You already have a car, you already can spend a holiday abroad every now and then, you already can eat out whenever you feel like it, you can already spend huge sums of money on cigarettes and other luxuries, you can already give a mobile phone to each of your children, you already have free and excellent medical service for all the family and free excellent education for your children, you already can enjoy all sorts of social services which are the envy of foreigners who cannot understand how a barren rock like Malta can give us such a high standard of living. And you have freedom and democracy.
If you are under 35 years old and believe that it has always been like that you are grossly mistaken. Only 20 years ago life in Malta was very, very different. I know that it is very difficult for you to understand what life under the socialists was like, but be very careful before you are tempted to ask for sure. You have everything to lose and absolutely nothing to gain. Do not try because there would be no appeal!
