Recently I had the opportunity to see the all-Maltese feature film Qerq on the big screen.

I would like to congratulate the scriptwriter, producer, director and actors for their fine performance.

Something that irritated me was that in some instances the actors could have used Maltese words and phrases rather than foreign words. Our mother language has ample words and phrases to complete the dialogue entirely in Maltese. I am referring to such remarks as "Insib job", "baby", or "Welcome back". They could easily have said "insib ix-xoghol", "tarbija", and "Merhba bik'.

Nevertheless, I hope to see some more productions on the big screen.
