The Malta Society of Model Makers is organising a model exhibition of a vast range of ships, warplanes and tanks of various scales at the Catholic Institute, Floriana, from Friday to Monday, March 19, from 9.30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
More than 300 models will be on display, ranging from standard model kits to very complex and elaborate radio-controlled model boats. The various new models include three new radio-controlled model boats - the C27 and the C38, former patrol boats of the Malta Maritime Squadron, and the P61 'Diciotti Class', its latest and most modern patrol boat. The P61 model boat, apart from being radio-controlled, is fully loaded with electronic circuitry controlling several functions, such as radar, onboard lights, etc.
The society was founded in 2004 and has held an annual exhibition ever since. The aim of the exhibition is to give a better idea of the work involved in building model kits and a better insight of the good reputation that Maltese modellers have managed to acquire over the years.
