Defective gas regulators

Following Jonathan Diamantino's letter (The Sunday Times, February 25) about defective gas regulators, how is it that such regulators have not yet been withdrawn from the market?

If an Enemalta foreman has intimated that such regulators have created problems in the past, why has the corporation not made the information public? Surely the interest of public safety overrides free-market laws!

Last January, the Consumer and Competition Division issued a warning to the public on the danger posed by night lights of the Hengsheng brand. Should the division not issue a similar warning if particular brands of gas regulators are found to be defective?
