Four Maltese players - Massimo Cremona, Mark Gauci, Joseph Mifsud and Hansel Mallia - recently took part in the Major of Mons tournament in Belgium.

Besides the Major of Mons, the Maltese also played a friendly international against the home side. The Belgian team was made up of the best players but in the end the Maltese won on goal difference.

In the teams tournament, Perugia made it all the way to the final with Cremona in fine form for the Italian side.

However, they lost to Napoli 2-1 for the third time this season.

Hansel Mallia captained Belgian side AS Hennuyer to the quarter-finals but Mark Gauci and Joseph Mifsud, of Greek side Atlas, lost to AS Milan in the second stage.

In singles, all four Maltese qualified from their respective groups. Unfortunately, Cremona and Gauci were then paired against each other in the next round. Cremona won 2-1.

He made the best progress in the tournament but in the Last 16 round he was beaten 3-0 by Massimiliano Nastasi.

Gil Delogne, of Belgium, won the tournament after beating Carlos Flores, of Spain, 2-1 in the final.
