The Malta Institute for Computer Sciences (MICS) has partnered with Microsoft to begin offering advanced technology training through the Microsoft IT Academy Programme. MICS is the only local institute granted Pro Platinum Level in this programme.

This innovative programme will prepare individuals for in-demand careers, such as network administrators, technical support specialists, software and hardware developers, and design engineers. This will be done by offering students the possibility to acquire certifications that are highly in demand in the industry, such as MCSA, MCSE, MCAD, etc.

Moreover, the Microsoft IT Academy Programme is the only official Microsoft learning path designed to be delivered on a part-time basis, with specialised curriculum, courseware and resources tailor-made for this mode of training.

"We always strive to provide the latest technology offerings in order to meet the local workforce demands," Robert J. Mifsud, director of Oper-ations at MICS, said. "Our latest partnership with Microsoft will assist us in that endeavour."

Nationwide, the demand for IT employees has never been greater. With the advent of foreign companies setting up shop in Malta, together with the ever increasing dependence on IT of practically all medium to large sized businesses, this trend can only increase. The Microsoft IT Academy is designed to help meet those needs.

"The Microsoft IT Academy will benefit our students and their employers," Mr Mifsud said. "Individuals will be able to earn a wide range of Microsoft certificates.

"Certification gives students an edge in the workplace, since employers can be assured of the competencies of an IT qualified individual. Additionally, students will be instructed by IT faculty that have been trained in the latest Microsoft technologies. We are pleased to be the only institute on the island to offer this programme."

MICS operates from its premises in San Gwann and are also accredited as centres for ECDL, ECDL Advanced, City & Guilds and BCS Professional Examinations. MICS is also an official Pearson VUE Testing Centre. For more information on the Microsoft IT Academy Programme, contact MICS on 2137-6200 or mics@mifcs.com. Malta Institute Computer Sciences
