A new dance production that involves children's ballet will be staged by The Dance Workshop at the St Agatha Auditorium in Rabat, on April 3 and 4 at 8 p.m.
The first part of No Fixed Points will be dedicated to young theatregoers with a presentation of Esmeralda, based on Victor Hugo's novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
The costumes, scenery and choreography have been designed especially for this delightful children's ballet, focusing on The Dance Workshop's philosophy of educating children to appreciate the arts.
Dance Workshop principal Theresa Lungaro-Mifsud said: "Each child participating in Esmeralda is made aware of the importance of his/her role and is educated not only in dance technique, but also in responsibilities," she said.
The second part of the production focuses on bringing nature's elements to life. Resident dancers and senior students will leap, spin and twirl to the strains of Philip Glass, Paco de Lucia and Kronos Quartet, in their efforts to capture the choreographers' thoughts.
Tickets at Lm4 and Lm5 are available from The Dance Workshop in Gzira, the Dance Studio in Kappara, or at the theatre before the performance. Call 2124 2465 or 9942 9233.
