No! Abortion is not only immoral - it is downright criminal (Immoral Malta? Martin Buttner, March 2) Immoral it is, when one thinks he has to suppress another life - in a cruel manner - just to be able to go on enjoying what is probably an immoral "sport".
Let us review briefly what could cause an unwanted pregnancy.
Perhaps a (very) young woman experimenting with sex?
Perhaps a woman who is engaged in an extramarital relationship?
Perhaps a woman given to the practice of "one night stands"?
Or perhaps a married woman who judges that her family is already complete?
Or perhaps a woman who has suffered rape?
In the first three cases, it is the immoral and Godless behaviour of these women that would have brought down this "mistake" upon them! Why did they not take precautions which are readily available nowadays? Where they perhaps high on drugs or alcohol (during the act of procreation) to give a boot a hoot at what might happen? Or perhaps they judged the pill dangerous for their own health (or life) and condoms too expensive by their standards?
As for the other two cases, the message is clear. Procreation is the privilege of humans, contrary to breeding which belongs to animals. Must we put ourselves on the same level of animals and animal desires?
We have always been taught that every human life is a "gift", never a "mistake". It is immoral yes, and criminal too, to throw back God's gift to His face.
