Honda have promised British Formula Three champion Mike Conway a Formula One test later this year after announcing the 22-year-old had joined the team.

"At the same time as competing in the GP2 series, Mike will have the opportunity to steadily integrate himself into the workings of a top Formula One team," Honda said in a statement yesterday.

Conway, winner of the Macau Grand Prix last November, won the British F3 title last year after taking the Formula Renault championship in 2004.

"Mike has clearly demonstrated his potential and talent throughout his career in the various junior formulas with a great deal of success," said Honda Formula One sporting director Gil de Ferran.

Honda have Briton Jenson Button and Brazilian Rubens Barrichello as their Formula One drivers this year.

The season starts in Australia on March 18.
