Melita Cable yesterday announced that it has secured the rights of the Barclays English Premier League for another three seasons.

It also acquired the use of the Juventus Channel which, it said, "continues to add value to a rich line-up of football channels on Melita Sports that also includes another three channels of Italian football clubs, namely Roma, AC Milan and Inter, and two football channels of English Premier League clubs, namely MUTV and Chelsea TV".

The Juventus Channel started to be broadcast 24 hours per day on Channel 704 from yesterday, substituted only when Melita broadcasts live sports events. The Roma Channel will move to Channel 703.

The price of Melita Sports will remain unchanged at Lm7.50 per month.

Melita Cable also announced that it acquired the exclusive rights for the UEFA Cup for three seasons starting from the 2006/7 season. These rights enable Melita Sports to broadcast on a live and exclusive basis all the games of the UEFA Cup from the quarter-finals stage onwards. The first full fixture of the UEFA Cup quarter finals will take place on March 22.

Furthermore, the season opener in European football, the Super Cup, will also be shown live and on an exclusive basis by Melita Sports starting from the next edition of this event.
