Carmel Baldacchino's article entitled 'Sliema's clean sweep in 1964-65' (Shadows from the Past - The Times, March 1) made interesting reading but it missed some important details.

Apart from the league championship, the Independence Cup and FA Trophy, Sliema also won the Testaferrata Cup that season to complete their famous quadruple crown.

That season, the Blues, under the guidance of Janos Bedl, were also the winners of the reserves league, the U-21 championship, which featured a large number of players from the senior squad, and also the Minors League.

According to my records, the picture accompanying the article was that of a Sliema line-up in season 1967-68. A number of players in the picture were not even in the Wanderers squad in 1964-65.

Others who played a key role in Sliema's quadruple crown were not in the picture, the likes of Salvu Bonnici, Edward Aquilina, Alfred Debono and Vince Vassallo.

Sports editor's note: The error regarding the picture accompanying last week's 'Shadows from the Past' column is regretted.
