I can understand why the Public Registrar may, as a practising Catholic, find it goes against his religious beliefs to wed the couple in question in the article of February 27 reported by Natalino Fenech.
Is this why he has decided to drag these two unfortunate people through more anguish and misery than they have already endured? The judge in his capacity and wisdom, deemed it so...so let it be...for goodness sake!
Ironically perhaps, also in the same issue of The Times, is the article reported by Ivan Camilleri in Brussels that... lo and behold... the Maltese are the most religious nation in the European Union. Indeed religious...not to mention self-righteous and holier-than-thou.
Life isn't so cut and dried, black or white.
