Once upon a time
This week's story - The Naughty Girl
Once there was naughty little nine-year-old girl, called Amy. It was the Christmas holidays and she went to stay with her uncle and aunty, who lived near a forest. The house was very small but quite comfortable. When she arrived, she had dinner and went to sleep.
She planned that the next day she would go and explore the forest and the surroundings, even though her aunt and uncle didn't want her to.
Alas for Amy, the next day the snow started to fall and it went on for three days. How she sulked and stamped her feet. On the fourth day it stopped snowing and Amy slipped silently out of doors.
She went into the forest and got lost. It started getting dark and she was frightened. It started snowing and it was very dark in the forest. Amy ran and ran, not knowing where to go. She suddenly fell headlong into the snow and the cold snow got in the collar of her coat. She leant against a tree, wishing she hadn't disobeyed. She saw a yellow pair of eyes, which belonged to an owl, and heard the screeching of a mouse. Amy was frightened, cold and miserable.
As she thought that all hope was lost she heard her aunt and uncle calling for her. They found her and took her to their cottage. How glad she was to be back! She promised she would never wander off alone again.
