The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Edinburgh Business School have recently signed a joint agreement to enable ACCA members, affiliates and Part 3 students to gain an M.Sc. in Financial Management.

The Malta Institute of Management (MIM) is the local representative of the Edinburgh Business School.

ACCA members, affiliates and Part 3 students can gain fast-track entry through credit transfer, recognising the value of their ACCA qualification.

The programme offers great flexibility, and students can study the modular courses in the order of their choice, and without fixed start and end dates with respect to distance learning.

The tutored classes in Malta will be launched soon by the MIM, which will ensure that the level of flexibility offered by distance learning, is wherever possible maintained also in classroom-based learning.

The training counts towards the annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement under ACCA's CPD programme.

Clare Minchington, managing director, Education, Learning and Development at ACCA, said: "This is a truly flexible course open to ACCA members, affiliates and Part 3 students around the world who wish to complement their ACCA professional qualification with a Master's degree from a prestigious and world-renowned university."

Alick Kitchin, business director at Edinburgh Business School, said: "ACCA and Edinburgh Business School have a common vision to provide lifelong learning opportunities to meet the needs of working professionals all over the world. Both offer high-quality learning content and support, and both maintain quality and standards through final examinations."

The agreement with Edinburgh Business School is part of ACCA's strategy to link with internationally respected universities to give ACCA members opportunities to undertake relevant postgraduate training as part of ACCA's commitment to CPD.

Reuben Buttigieg, chairman of the training and education division of MIM, said that MIM was proud to represent Edinburgh Business School in Malta.

This agreement, he said, shows that the choice of postgraduate education by MIM is the most adequate in the Maltese circumstances whereby professionals need more flexibility in view of their high work commitments.

MIM is being all the more proactive and international. This agreement and the fact that MIM had applied to the UCRS programme of ACCA clearly shows that the MIM strategy is in line with its international partners.

MIM is today recognised as the leading business school in Malta by various organisations. MIM students vouch for the quality training provided, based on the principles of flexibility, value-for-money and prestigious training.
