Malta FA president Joe Mifsud has declared his intention to seek re-election. Dr Mifsud, MFA head since 1992, made the announcement during a council meeting on Thursday.
A press release from the MFA, outlining the topics discussed during the meeting, made reference to Dr Mifsud's speech on his re-election bid.
"In the context of the MFA's objectives to further the cause of the game, Dr Mifsud said that over the years the association worked efficiently so that football in all its aspects could improve," the communication read.
"He (Dr Mifsud) felt that in this respect he still had a valid contribution to give and his recent election as member of the UEFA Executive Committee has strengthened his resolve to continue with his work at the helm of the association if the majority of the members would support him to do so.
"Hence, his intention is to accept to be nominated to stand for president of the association in the election for this post at the next Annual General Meeting."
Norman Darmanin Demajo, former treasurer of the Malta FA, is the only declared candidate for the election next summer.
