The late prolific folk singer Frans Baldacchino, Il-Budaj, will be remembered tomorrow with the unveiling of a bust at Ir-Razzett tal-Markiz in Mosta.

Il-Budaj, who was a close collaborator of the Ghaqda Filantropika Talent Mosti which manages the farmhouse, died last June, aged 63.

The bust by Anton Agius will be unveiled by Mr Baldacchino's widow, Pawla.

Mr Baldacchino was known as a poet and a painter who exhibited his works and sang on several evenings at Ir-Razzett tal-Markiz.

His first evening of folk singing there was on October 18, 1998 and the last one on June 2, 2006.

At Ir-Razzett tal-Markiz one can find an authentic Maltese folk singer's outfit that Il-Budaj used to don for his evenings at the farmhouse and when he gave shows abroad.

The first anniversary of his death will be marked at the same farmhouse on March 22 by a number of speakers who will talk on Il-Budaj's literary and singing skills and by a group of folk singers and musicians.

A musical and literary evening will be held at Ir-Razzett tal-Markiz in his honour on March 25.
