Now that the election fever is slowly but surely starting to set in, my letter box, in common with many others, I am sure, is getting inundated with a load of non-sensical printed material from this or that minister inviting me to a "pasta night" or some other similar stupid function or offering to visit me at home to discuss any grievances or shortcomings.

The same applies to candidates intending to contest the election.

What I find amusing is that all the propaganda material sent starts with the greeting "Dear friend", when the sender does not even know me from Adam. More amusing still, is the fact that once the election is over and the Minister or newly elected candidate are nicely settled in their new "cushy job", they will not even deign to grant me an appointment to talk to them if the need arises, let alone asking to visit me at home to discuss my complaints, etc.

As far as I am concerned, these mail-shots are an absolute waste of good money, since I have absolutely no intention of voting, having had enough of politicians and their nauseating antics.
