Carlo Farrugia, a member of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Academy Participants Association (IOAPA), has just returned from a three-day seminar organised by the British Olympic Academy in London.
Various topics were discussed during the seminar where special emphasis was laid on the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Important personalities such as Lord Collin Moynihan, chairman of the British Olympic Association, Paul Deighton, chief executive officer of the London 2012 Organising Committee, Debbie Evans, director of Sports London Organising Committee, and John James, chairman of the British Olympic Foundation, addressed the seminar.
Olympic medalists Guin Batten (rowing) and Derek Redmond (athletics) shared their sporting experiences with the 120 participants at the seminar.
Farrugia has been associated with the International Olympic Academy since his first visit to Olympia in 1995. Locally, Farrugia was a member of the Malta Olympic Academy between 1997 and 2002 and also served as national basketball coach in the female sector for several years.
