The general secretary of the hunters' federation yesterday filed three libel suits over comments made in the newspapers Malta Today and Illum and on a programme aired on Super 1 Radio.

Lino Farrugia filed the three suits in the Magistrates' Court. One suit was filed against Malta Today editor Saviour Balzan over an opinion piece written on the December 10, 2006, issue.

The second suit was filed against Mr Balzan and Kurt Sansone, as the editor of Illum, over an article published in the paper's January 21, 2007, edition.

Mr Farrugia filed a third suit against lawyer Wenzu Mintoff over comments passed during the programme Fl-Isfond ta' L-Ahbar broadcast on Super 1 Radio on December 14, 2006.

Lawyer Andrea Micallef signed the suits.
