The Maltese Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (MAGG), together with the European Centre of Gerontology, University of Malta, in collaboration with the Parliamentary Secretariat for the Elderly and Community Care, will be holding a half-day seminar on the Madrid International Plan of Action on Aging 2002 from 8.45 a.m. to 12.45 p.m., tomorrow, at the Imperial Hotel, Sliema.

The Madrid International Plan of Action on Aging 2002 calls for changes in attitudes, policies and practices in all sectors so as to realise the great potential of aging in the 21st century. It also seeks to highlight the fact that older persons should be perceived as a valuable resource in the service of society.

This seminar aims to promote this landmark document to the Maltese public. Registration opens at 8 a.m. The cost per participant is Lm3 (inclusive of registration fee and coffee break). To register one can call the European Centre of Gerontology on 2131 9526 or 2340 2237. Places are awarded on a first-come-first-served basis. The event is designed to facilitate discussion.

Keynote speakers will include Joseph Troisi, Anthony Fiorini and Marvin Formosa. Parliamentary Secretary Helen D'Amato and John Rizzo Naudi will also address the seminar.
