The BoV Opera Festival has become a firm fixture in the cultural year of The Manoel Theatre. And this year is no exception, two full-scale opera productions will be staged at our national theatre this month. On March 14 and 16, The Manoel Theatre, in collaboration with Teatro Borgatti di Cento will stage Verdi's last opera Falstaff. Then on March 19 and 21 Palermo's Operalaboratorio will perform Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore (The Elixir of Love).

Maestro Michael Laus will be the musical director and conductor of our national orchestra for both of the opera productions staged at The Manoel Theatre.

To add some extra spice to this year's festival Maltese tenor Charles Vincenti will be taking the principal role of Nemorino in L'Elisir d'Amore.

This extremely talented young tenor may not be quite in the Joseph Calleja league yet, but he is certainly one to watch. He began voice and music studies under Mro Clifford Cauchi at the age of 19.

Then at the Johann Strauss School of Music in Valletta he studied with Eiros Jones and since the year 2000 under the direction of Claire Massa. Mr Vincenti is now regarded as one of our most promising and talented singers. The BOV Opera Festival is obviously and emphatically this month's must-see.
