I refer to the letter by Edward Cassar (Still No Lights, February 24).

First and foremost, I would like to thank Mr Cassar again for his reply, but unfortunately it seems that he is misinformed about how a local council functions especially where street lighting is concerned.

Mr Cassar should know that local councils are now responsible for all those lights on arms fixed on all walls. At present discussions between the Association of Local Councils and Enemalta Corporation are in progress as regards the devolution of those lights on lamp poles. Mr Cassar should also know that the matter in question is not only to do with changing a bulb. The local council is to change all 33 ornamental lights along Triq is-Salini and replace them with new ones, this because they are considered as obsolete and of constant danger to the public.

Finally, I feel that I am not the right person to guide Mr Cassar as to which party he should vote for in the coming general election. Facts speak for themselves and he is well aware which party has shown the most interest in our lovely village of Marsascala.
