It has become common practice that, when embelleshing roundabouts, automatic water sprinklers are used to irrigate the plants all the year round.

Unfortunately, most of these sprinklers shoot water randomly, which on windy days accumulates on the road making going around a roundabout a deadly proposition for two-wheeled vehicles, including cyclists who have to take a slippery turn around them.

I am a victim of these contraptions, and if it were not for the good distance kept by the vehicle behind me, I would not have been so lucky.

Could the councils that are responsible for their roundabouts and the contractors who install these waterjets kindly investigate and if possible re-install these water jets away from the perimeter of the road?

The worst offender in this regard is the Qormi/Zebbug roundabout which, together with the sprinklers mentioned above, has the geometry of the road designed with negative camber. This makes this bend a veritable death-trap for any two-wheeled vehicles.

I just hope that the councils read this note before any fatality takes place.
