At the end of this month - March 30, 31 and April 1 to be precise - the MADC will be breaking new ground. For the first time for many years (possibly the first time ever) the theatre group will have two productions opening in the same month and in the same theatre: The Manoel Theatre. After Company comes in "like a lion", Yasmina Reza's contemporary comedy Life x Three certainly doesn't intend to go "out like a lamb".

About five years ago the sadly short-lived Theatreworx company scored a huge hit with Ms Reza's surreal comedy Art. Life x Three is similarly sophisticated but, if anything, a spikier, and even more relevant play for our times.

Life x Three tells what happens when a couple, Hubert and Inez, arrive at Henry and Sonia's home for dinner one day early. An already tricky situation is complicated by the fact that Hubert is capable of wielding considerable influence over Henry's career. Add to this Henry and Sonia's fractious six-year-old son Arnaud, then toss in the fact that there is virtually nothing to eat in the house and spice the whole thing up with Henry's growing consternation that his life's work has been gazumped by a rival.

How will it all pan out? Badly, disastrously or worse? Ms Reza allows her audience to speculate by exploring all three possibilities in this unique comedy.

The MADC has assembled a formidable cast for this one. Henry will be played by Alex Grech, who is making something of a habit of playing amusing neurotics. Sonia, his over-sexed wife will be Coryse Borg, Henry's superior will be Anthony Ellul and his rebellious wife Inez will be Vanessa Macdonald.

Booking is open from The Manoel Theatre Box Office.
