Jugglers and stilt walkers will mingle with the crowds at the Vittoriosa Waterfront, on Sunday, when the Lm450,000 landscaping works will be inaugurated during a mini Notte Bianca.
Human statues, a balloon artist, a face painter and a magician will also be there to delight children in an activity for all the family.
The buildings along the waterfront will be illuminated with coloured lighting to give the area a magical effect.
Traditional barklori will be operating a service from near the Customs House, in Valletta, to Senglea, and will also be taking people on harbour tours. The Police Corps band will perform a 90-minute programme after the inauguration ceremony. A steel sculpture by artist Charles Sammut will be unveiled during the ceremony, and another two works of art are expected to be installed soon.
The Maritime Museum will remain open until late at a reduced entrance price of 50c for adults, while children and the elderly enter for free.
Historic re-enactments will take place both inside and outside the museum.
The first phase of the project, carried out between last March and July, included the paving of the whole area, while the second phase, which started in January, included the installation of lighting.
The whole area has been paved with marble and landscaped with trees and shrubs.
The aim was to enhance the historical waterfront, which includes the Casino di Venezia, the Grand Harbour Marina and the Old Treasury Building.
The activity kicks off at 5.45 p.m.
