Mayor sues councillor for libel

The mayor of Zebbug, in Gozo, the local council's architect and a contractor have filed three separate libel suits against a councillor in the same locality.

Zebbug mayor Charles Saliba, architect Edward Scerri and contractor Nicky Saliba sued Zebbug councillor Joseph Camilleri in connection with an article entitled Ittra miftuha lid-direttur tal-kunsilli lokali (An open letter to the director of local councils), was published in l-orizzont's January 4 issue. They claimed that comments made by Mr Camilleri were libellous and defamatory.

Lawyers Chris Said, Mario Scerri and Carmel Galea signed the suits.
