Junior Chamber launches business plan competition

The Junior Chamber Inter-national Malta has launched the 2007 Best Business Plan Competition.

Young entrepreneurs who feel they have a great idea for a new business will be judged on innovation and how well their plan is drawn up.

Besides a Lm1,000 cash prize, the winner, as well as other participants, will receive training and possible financing for their ideas.

The winning business plan will also take part in JCI's International Best Business Plan Competition at the 2008 JCI World Congress, with the chance of winning Lm5,000.

The Parliamentary Secretary for the Self-Employed, Edwin Vassallo, said during the launch that JCI was helping to promote entrepreneurship through learning by doing.

Since its inception, the competition has helped launch several new enterprises.

This year, besides providing training and consultancy, JCI will present the business plans recommended by the panel of judges to potential investors seeking to invest capital in such ideas.

David Pace, JCI's president, said the competition encouraged a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among young Maltese, giving them the opportunity to develop leadership skills, social responsibility and fellowship, both for their own and the community's advancement.

Participation is open to all Maltese residents aged between 18 and 40 against an application fee of Lm30.

More information and an entry form can be obtained from the JCI Malta website at www.jci.org.mt, e-mail - bbc@jci.org.mt, tel. 9942 8488. The deadline for applications is April 12.

The competition is sponsored by HSBC and KPMG. Allied Newspapers Ltd is a platinum corporate member of JCI Malta.
