The Archbishop, Mgr Paul Cremona, yesterday had the opportunity to personally thank many police officers during a visit to the police headquarters, in Floriana.
In a short address after a tour of all sections of the police, Mgr Cremona thanked the officers whom he "troubled a lot over the past few weeks", a reference to the work the police were involved in directing traffic and crowds wherever Mgr Cremona went before and after he was ordained Archbishop.
Mgr Cremona said he appreciated the danger the police were exposed to, to protect society.
He urged them to keep a balance between police work and respect and love for one and all. He said he prayed for them to have courage and a sense of justice.
He jokingly said he was so intrigued with the different sections he saw that, had he been younger, he would have been tempted to join the force.
Before his short address, Mgr Cremona spoke to members of the various sections. He showed interest in what he was being shown and kept asking questions about the work of the various units.
Mgr Cremona was welcomed by Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg, Parliamentary Secretary Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici, Police Commissioner John Rizzo and senior police officers.
