Michael Psaila, seven, Birkirkara
Dear Junior News, Some days before Mgr Paul Cremona became Malta's new archbishop, I joined thousands of other children at Ta' Qali, where we celebrated the event with singing, dancing and other lively activities. We were lucky to be sitting right behind the archbishop and he greeted us all with a huge smile, saying that he never expected so many of us to be there!
When it was time to leave, we discovered that he would be leaving from the back entrance of the huge tent, so we went there to wave to him as he was driven off.
In a recent television programme, the new archbishop said that he would like to "belong" to each and every Maltese boy and girl.
Maybe Mgr Cremona reads Junior News and he will be happy to see his photo in our children's newspaper, so I am sending you a photo of the Archbishop.
We always like getting letters about events and people in the news, Michael. And we've had quite a few about the new archbishop. Your letter really captures the atmosphere of this celebration and we're sure that if he sees it, Mgr Cremona will be happy that so many people enjoyed celebrating with him. And you've won a Lm 5 voucher and VIP Toyland's discount card for sending this week's star letter. Well done!
Matthew Attard, seven
Dear Junior News, I am Matthew Attard. I am seven years old and I attend Little Angels School.
Carnival is my favourite time of year. There are so many nice costumes and brightly coloured carnival floats. Carnival is a very nice feast, especially for children. Anyway I wish you all a very happy carnival.
Your letter reached us the day after carnival, Matthew, but we're sure you had a lovely time. Did you have a costume too? As you've already written such a nice letter, maybe you would like and tell about it.
