Fort Cambridge hearing postponed

The Malta Environment and Planning Authority's public hearing scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. on the Fort Cambridge project in Sliema - the site occupied by the former Crowne Plaza Hotel - has been postponed.

Mepa's Planning Directorate has requested the Mepa board to be given more time to assess fresh options relating to this development, a statement by Mepa said.

The project includes the demolition of the hotel, the restoration of the Cambridge Battery and the building of six apartment blocks containing 386 flats, four levels of underground parking and private service amenities for residents.

No new date has been set for the public hearing, a Mepa spokesman told The Times.
