Following my article last Sunday, I wish to point out that recently, the sports departments of a number of post-secondary institutions in Malta and Gozo came together to enhance relationships and work hand in hand towards organizing sport and outdoor activities for their students.

A football, basketball, table-tennis and snooker tournament was held between MCAST, Junior College, Higher Secondary and the Gozo sixth form. A good number of male and female students participated in these friendly tournaments aimed at developing physical and social skills. In the coming months our students will also have the opportunity to participate in an athletics event between the various post-secondary institutions and in an adventure weekend in Gozo.

On another note, next year ISF Malta, which forms part of the Malta School Sport Federation (MSSF) will be organising a big sporting event where students in post-secondary institutions will be able to participate with other students from all over the world.

MSSF was set up 60 years ago and is still Malta's leading school sports organisation. Over the years it joined FISEC International and most recently it joined the International School Sports Federation (ISF) to give our students, mainly those in Form Five and post-secondary schools a bigger opportunity to participate at international level mainly as a school team in a number of sports. This opportunity will definitely strengthen the need to better organise school competitions both for U-16 teams, who are mainly in Form Five and U-17 teams who are in post-secondary schools.
