The Malta Institute of Management (MIM), in collaboration with Couples for Christ, is organising an interesting talk on Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), to be conducted by Lynne I. Kerry, Master Practitioner and Certified Trainer of NLP, tomorrow between 6 and 7.30 p.m. at the MIM, STC Building Block A, Alamein Road, Pembroke.

Ms Kerry is an international consultant and facilitator and managing director of Vievolve Ltd, where her primary role is promoting the business through lead-generation, selling and marketing.

She has an extensive corporate background, holding a number of senior management positions, including account management (Nielsen Marketing Research), sales and marketing (Compumark/Dun & Bradstreet) and HR/training (Grant Thornton Chartered Accountants).

For those unfamiliar with the subject, NLP can be defined as a set of techniques and beliefs that adherents use primarily as an approach to personal development.

It is based on the idea that mind, body and language interact to create an individual's perception of the world, and that perceptions, and so behaviours can be changed by the application of a variety of techniques; in particular, "modelling" which involves the careful reproduction of the behaviours and beliefs of those who have achieved 'excellence'.

There are many advantages and benefits that can be gained from an understanding of NLP and the possibilities that it offers.

Indeed, it can be applied to a whole range of business contexts - coaching, selling, negotiations, performance management, change management, team building, etc. - and provides a very powerful set of tools that can heighten interpersonal skills and enhance communication and influence.

One is therefore strongly encouraged to attend this interesting activity, which should prove to be of great personal benefit.

The talk will include: A brief introduction to NLP - definition and origins; The five keys of NLP - outcome, action, awareness, flexibility and  rapport; Differences in thinking styles and behaviour; Outcome thinking for achievement; and The impact of values and beliefs on behaviour.

Further information can be obtained by contacting either Joe Aquilina on 2149-2266 or Stephanie Scerri on 2145-3097 or by e-mailing joedoris@maltanet.net. or sscerri@maltamanagement.com.

The speaker is supporting Gawad Kalinga, a building project for the poor in the Philippines. The proceeds will go to support this humanitarian project.
