The 17th Dingli 10 road race, organised jointly for the past seven years by St Patrick's AC and the Dingli Local Council, will be held on March 19.
Since the first race in 1991, the Dingli 10 has become established as a tradition, and one of the most prestigious fixtures of the local running calendar.
The start and finish of the race are at the square next to the Francis Ebejer monument. The course is ten miles long (16 kms). Runners will go down to Fiddien Valley for the first four miles before the terrain becomes quite hilly. Then they will pass through country roads towards the spectacular Dingli Cliffs before the final, very fast, one-mile dash back to the village centre.
The race starts at 9 a.m. Shortly afterwards there will be a race for juniors, over a distance of 2.3 miles, and a Fun Run.
This year the races will be sponsored by Ronhill and Kristal Mineral Water.
Application forms are available from the club's website www. stpatricks-ac.org, Wally Galea's souvenirs shop in South Street, Valletta or by phoning 7970-8650 and 21-410648.
In all, 100 runners are expected to take part in the Dingli 10.
Last year's winners were Charles Cilia, in a time of 54.21, and Angela Sammut, in 1.06.31.
Andrew Vella and Denise Law were the junior race winners in 2006.
