AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH
documentary

This film takes a passionate look at former Vice President Al Gore's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. In the wake of defeat in the 2000 election, Al Gore re-set the course of his life to focus on a last-ditch, all-out effort to help save the planet from irrevocable change.

In this portrait of his "travelling global warming show", Al Gore also proves himself to be one of the most misunderstood characters in modern American public life.

Here he is seen as never before in the media - funny, engaging, open and downright on fire about getting the surprisingly stirring truth about what he calls our "planetary emergency" out to ordinary citizens before it's too late.

GROUNDED
comedy

It's Christmas Eve and a huge blizzard has shut down the airport. Among the stranded travellers, five unaccompanied minors are determined to make the most out of their holiday by running wild inside and outside the airport. Without a parent in sight, the rambunctious five outwit and outrun an uptight airport official (Lewis Black) and his gullible assistant (Wilmer Valderrama). Joyriding on golf carts, plummeting through baggage chutes and canoeing down a snow bank, the kids turn Christmas at the airport into holiday pandemonium and, along the way, prove that the holidays aren't about where you are, but who you're with.

THE GOOD SHEPHERD?
drama

Edward Wilson (Matt Damon) understands the value of secrecy - discretion and commitment to honour have been embedded in him since childhood. As an eager, optimistic student at Yale, he is recruited to join the secret society Skull and Bones, a brotherhood and breeding ground for future world leaders. Wilson's acute mind, spotless reputation and sincere belief in American values render him a prime candidate for a career in intelligence, and he is soon recruited to work for the OSS (the precursor to the CIA) during World War II.

As one of the covert founders of the CIA, working in the heart of an organisation where duplicity is required and nothing is taken at face value, Edward's idealism is steadily eroded by a growing suspicious nature, reflective of a world settling into the long paranoia of the Cold War. As his methods are adopted as standard operating procedure, Wilson develops into one of the Agency's veteran operatives, all the while combating his KGB counterpart.

However, his steely dedication to his country comes at an ever-increasing price. Not even his wife Clover (Angelina Jolie) or his beloved son can divert Wilson from a path that will force him to sacrifice everything in pursuit of this job.

THE LAST MITTERAND
drama

This film dramatises the last years of a political leadership and a private life: that of Francois Mitterrand.

As the President engages in his final battle with illness, a dedicated young journalist tries to extract from him some universal lessons on politics and history, love and literature.

But the old man hardly has any to give because for him, this is the moment when all time - past, present and future - blends into one; the time when only doubt remains, the time when all men are equal: the moment of the nearness of death.

BABEL
drama

Armed with a Winchester rifle, two Morrocan boys set out to look after their family's herd of goats. In the silent echoes of the desert, they decide to test the rifle... but the bullet goes farther than they thought it would.

In an instant, the lives of four separate groups of strangers on three different continents collide. Caught up in the rising tide of an accident that escalates beyond anyone's control are a vacationing American couple (Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett), a rebellious deaf Japanese teenager and her father, and a Mexican nanny who, without permission, takes two American children across the border. None of these strangers will ever meet; in spite of the sudden, unlikely connection between them, they will all remain isolated due to their own inability to communicate meaningfully with anyone around them.
