Fruit, vegetable prices

I refer to the editorial Prices Worth Investigating (January 24).

The Farmers Central Cooperative Society Ltd who operate in the fruit and vegetable compound (pitkalija) at Ta' Qali also sell their members' produce using employed salesmen (also called pitkala) .

These salesmen cum pitkala are strictly controlled by the management of the cooperative and do not participate in the price hike referred to in the article. As there is a growing controversy on this issue the cooperative wished that this point be made clear to the readers.

Furthermore it would be appreciated if future articles on this issue sounded out our opinion on the subject matter beforehand. In fact there are other issues not mentioned in the article which are directly and indirectly affecting the issue .
